Well it’s been a good and bad week for Asian Love Connections.

Let’s start with the bad…

The Mailing List Crashes and Burns

Sorry guys but I had to shut down the mailing list. The mailing list provider MailChimp (MailChump?) took my monthly subscription fee, then the next day suspended my account. Apparently using their services for a dating site is against their terms and conditions. Well needless to say I was pretty disappointed by their attitude, but for $10 I wasn’t gonna kick up too much of a fuss. Anyway, a lesson learned, and I’m sure as hell not gonna use another website with a monkey for a mascot.

I might start the mailing list up somewhere else, but I’m finding that there are a lot of companies that won’t touch dating sites with a 6 foot pole.  Asian dating sites raise a particular amount of suspicion – I guess Western women are suspicious of the Asian girl thing.

Better News!

In better news I’m getting the site translated into a number of different languages, including:

• Simplified Chinese
• Vietnamese
• Thai

This will make it much easier to attract users from these countries.

I know basic Chinese, so I was able to do many of the Chinese translations myself. However, I’ve employed translators for the Vietnamese and Thai versions of the site.

On the downside just bear in mind that Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai women don’t often speak, read or write much English. I will make it easier for these women to register with the site. But it’s then up to you to figure out how to chat to them!

All I can say is that Asian Love Connections is a heck of a lot cheaper than using the sites with built in translation services (e.g. Asian Beauties and Chnlove). Sign up to these sites if you want an easy way of chatting to the Asian women who don’t speak much English.

As Asian Love Connections grows I might introduce a translation service. However, this would have to be paid for, and it ain’t gonna be cheap. As somebody who has dated a Chinese girl who spoke very little English, all I can say is that a good translator is priceless. If you want to marry that ultra-hot Asian girl, you’re gonna have to get your wallet out at times.

Japanese and Cambodian Dating

I might also get the site translated into Japanese and Cambodian. However, I’m holding back on these languages for now.

I have been to Japan four times so I’m moderately familiar with that country. However, Japanese dating is a tough nut to crack and I’d strongly recommend any guy wanting a Japanese wife or girlfriend to seriously consider Chinese women instead. I dated a number of Japanese women, but I’ve gotta say, they’ve got some serious, serious competition from their Chinese sisters!

The Cambodian dating scene is very small, and there just aren’t great numbers of Cambodian women with Internet access. In fact, there are 10x as many people with Internet access in the Chinese city of Guangzhou than there are in the entire country of Cambodia*.
